Photobucket Adrian's History
Adrian was born at 32 weeks, weighing 1,820.gms, due to Premature rupture of Membranes (PROM) or anmiotic sac on 10th May 2007 at 15:20h. He was monitored until he left the NICU. Infection remains the most serious complication associated with PROM for the mother and the neonate, the risk of chorioamnionitis with term PROM is high. Adrian was in high risk of chorioamniotitis so the neonatologists took a blood sample to rule out the infection and was treated with antibiotics until we had the results. The new born complications from a bacterial infection (chorioamniotitis) includes sepsis (infection of the blood), meningitis (infection of the lining of the brain and the spinal cord) and respiratory problems.Adrian also had hyperbilirubinemia, high levels of bilirubin, a compound that results from the natural breakdown of blood. This high level of bilirubin causes them to develop jaundice, a yellow discoloration of the skin and whites of the eyes. Although mild jaundice is fairly common in full-term babies, it's much more common in premature babies. Extremely high levels of bilirubin can cause brain damage, so premature infants are monitored for jaundice and treated quickly, before bilirubin reaches dangerous levels. Jaundiced infants are placed under special lights that help the body eliminate bilirubin. As a premature baby had special nutricionist needs because his digestive systems was immature. Breast milk is an excellent source of nutrition, but premature infants are too immature to feed directly from the breast or bottle so breast milk can be pumped by the mother and fed to the premature baby through a Nasogastric (NG) tube feeding that goes from the baby's nose or mouth into the stomach. He spent almost a month in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), but he did not need supplemental oxygen. Adrian left the hospital weighing 1,960gr in June 2007

My fancy dress, Pocoyo

My Pocoyo

Next weekend is Carnival and during some weeks mum and grandmum have been making the fancy dress. This year we have choosen Pocoyo's fancy dress and I think I will be so cute. Last year was my first Carnival at home, I was dressed like a small devil and grandmum also make the fancy dress.

Here is the Pocoyo's dress ready to wear next weekend.

I have told how to make the Pocoyo's dress in my Spanish blog, how grandmother take the patterns and what kind of fabric she used.
